FAQ

Compatibility questions to ask before ordering media

These answers focus on planning risk: print method, material, adhesive, ribbon, sensors, and the line between media selection and compliance review.

Can this tool guarantee label compatibility?

No. It creates a starting specification. Always verify model, media width, roll OD, core size, ink side, sensor type, and adhesive with the supplier.

When should I avoid direct thermal labels?

Avoid them for long-life asset labels, outdoor exposure, high heat, UV, chemicals, or labels that must stay readable for years.

Do small barcode labels need 300 dpi?

Often yes. Dense codes, tiny human-readable text, and narrow labels usually benefit from 300 dpi, but scanner testing matters more than the number alone.

Is this compliance advice?

No. OSHA, chemical, safety, UL, and regulated labels need qualified compliance review. This site only helps with media and printer planning.

Why is there no quote form?

The selector is designed to show useful results before any lead capture. Use the output to ask better supplier questions.
